RE-THINKING BUSINESS
The global crisis has stimulated thinkers and writers into action. Suddenly there is a wealth of new ideas ‘out there’. Governments are experimenting with behavioural notions of strategy and are adopting ‘nudging’*. In the UK they are re-thinking the 70-year old concept of the single goal by challenging the concept that GDP is the best (and only) focus they should adopt in their policy making. Businesses are seeking alternatives to the slow, prescriptive planning formulas that were popular in more stable and predictable environments.
These are indeed exciting times for innovative thinkers and businesses willing to explore new approaches; to re-think their strategic tool kit; to test new ideas and to question which of the old remain robust in the face of change.
I challenge leaders to think differently about strategy and organisations.
